It's been 6 months. What's been happening????

I know I've been super quiet and it's been 6 months since my last post, but so much has been happening in my life and so many adjustments to be made.

Firstly, I didn't realize the huge impact moving to a different country would be. I mainly underestimated the impact because I figured that moving back to my home country wouldn't be a big deal and things would be plain sailing. It is home after all. But we basically needed to start from scratch, we bought a house, needed to get a new driver's license, etc. Kids started school, where I previously home schooled. Anyway you get the picture. I underestimated the time it would take to sort out all this admin, dealing with transfers and lawyers and unpacking 280 boxes.

Then also, I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old who I feel blessed to be able to nurture, love and care for and I don't want to be obsessing about designing when I really want to spend as much of my time and energy on them. So I have decided I am happy with doing what I can with the time I have.

But in between all of this I was diligently working on releasing my first mini collection to be sold in my online store. As I discussed in my previous blog post, I had decided on having 4 items in my first mini winter collection, keeping it simple to test processes, systems, set-up and correct any bugs in this system. This would also form part of the continual research and development for my business.

So I had these 4 items designs and patterned, but the hiccup came whilst trying to find a seamstress or CMT (cut, make and trim) to sew up the mini collection. I could not find a suitable company/person and in all of this I decided to revert back to designing for myself and having fun and getting the creative juices flowing again. Having fun just walking into a fabric store and choosing pretty fabric that appeals to me without thinking about the production cost, etc.

Then on Father's Day I made my hubby this cool button-up scarf.

He then suggested that I should put these scarves on the market. At first I was skeptical, but then I thought it was actually a great idea, as I could get experience in working with a lot of different types of fabric and their respective constructive techniques, but also test the online shopping software I was aiming to use for my business.

That's basically where I am, designing items for myself and having fun with it, within the time frames of my kids schedules, etc.

Whilst doing so I am testing the e-commerce software, which is part of the continual research and development for my future undertaking.
